Construction workers of the Borzhakty-Ersai railway line are preparing to deliver the project on the expansion of rail and port infrastructure on the shores of the Caspian Sea.
The construction of the railway was launched by the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev last October during a working visit to the Mangystau region.
The Borzhakty-Ersai railway line will be an important infrastructure facility to support maritime transport operations. It runs adjacent to the Mangyshlak-Uzen section and leads to the port of Kuryk on the Caspian Sea, where a ferry port complex is being built.
The total length of all paths of the Borzhakty-Ersai project is 23.8 kilometres. The project envisages the construction of an overpass at the intersection of the railway with the existing highway between Aktau and Kuryk, two 10 kW power lines, fibre optic cabling, signalling and communication facilities, and the construction of two modular EC stations.
The line will be equipped with the latest interlocking system EBILock950 supplied by Bombardier Transportation (Signal) Ltd.
